Tips for making your hair grow faster

Get it trimmed

Cut the hair to make it grow. It may sound counterintuitive, but this is one of the best tips for longer hair. Why? Because by cutting your hair you get rid of damaged, split ends, which prevent the hair from growing as it should. If you look after your hair properly, it will be less damaged and thus grow faster.

It is recommended that you cut your hair every 10 or 12 weeks, and some people advise getting a haircut on a full moon. We are not entirely sure how important the moon is in this process and it may be just a myth, but why don’t you try it and see for yourself? The important thing is that the person who cuts your hair knows how to do it properly, has the right tools and does it with care to encourage encourage hair growth.

Wash it less

Many people are used to washing their hair every day, but this habit is very damaging to the hair, as it prevents the natural oils of the scalp from nourishing and moisturizing the roots, which is essential for healthy hair growth.

Try to wash it only two or three times a week, with a very mild shampoo. This may be hard at first, but within a few months, you will see how your hair adapts to this change: not only will it look healthier, but it will grow much faster.

However, you should be aware of your hair type. If your hair gets greasy easily, you should wash it more often. Letting excess the grease accumulate could cause the hair follicles to become clogged with natural oils, which could cause the hair to start falling out.

Use cold water

Not only should you wash your hair less (bearing in mind your hair type), but when washing and rinsing your hair, it is very important that you do not use hot water. Try using warm water (or even cold if you can), which will help close the hair cuticles and leave the hair cleaner and more manageable, making hairstyles last longer.

If you use conditioner, you should also rinse it out with cold water to close the hair cuticles and eliminate any residue left by this product.

Brush it at night

Brushing your hair before going to sleep can help stimulate the follicles and increase circulation in the scalp, which improves the overall health of the hair and promotes hair growth. Furthermore, it is a great way to distribute the natural oils of the scalp throughout the hair, helping it stay hydrated and healthy.

You can do this the night before wash day so it doesn’t look greasy the next morning. During the night, your hair will soak up the natural oils so that in the morning, after washing it with warm or cold water, it will feel clean and healthy.

As well as brushing your hair, you can massage your scalp at night, which will also help stimulate microcirculation, preventing hair loss.

Not only is this relaxing, but it will also stimulate faster hair growth. Remember that you can also massage your scalp while you are washing your hair or applying a hair mask.

If you have greasy scalp, avoid frequent massaging or brushing, as your hair is already naturally hydrated.

Use a wooden hairbrush

Plastic combs and brushes can damage your hair. To prevent your hair from getting damaged, we recommend that you use a comb or brush with wooden bristles. Wood is softer on your hair and prevents it from breaking when you comb it.

Remember, the healthier your hair is, the faster it will grow.

Braid it

Believe it or not, braiding your hair before you go to sleep is actually great for stimulating hair growth. It doesn’t matter if you have long or short hair, you can put your hair in one or several braids.

Spend all night with your hair like that and, in the morning, take out the braid and brush out your hair. Repeat this routine daily and within a few weeks your hair will grow fast, and completely naturally!

Avoid hair dryers and straightening irons

Regularly subjecting the hair to very high temperatures is very damaging to the hair, since it burns it, creates split ends, making it more dry and brittle. As you know, if the hair is not healthy, it inhibits hair growth.

If you find it difficult to completely cut out hair dryers or straightening irons from your routine, limiting their use to two or three times a week will make your hair will look healthier and start growing faster, with no split ends.

Avoid dyes and damaging treatments

If you want your hair to grow faster, you have to keep it as healthy as possible. For this reason, you should avoid getting it colored, dyed or highlighted etc.. at least for a while until your hair reaches the desirable length.

Daily routine

You should include some healthy habits into your daily routine to promote your general wellbeing, which in turn will promote healthy hair growth.

Diet is one of the most influential factors for healthy hair. To stimulate hair growth and to improve your general health:

Fruits and vegetables

Vitamin A – Promotes capillary elasticity and helps strengthen hair. You can find this vitamin in fruits such as mango and melon, and in vegetables such as carrots, beetroot, broccoli, cabbage and spinach.

Vitamin B – Helps thicken the hair follicles and strengthen the hair. Found in seeds, nuts, potatoes, mushrooms, whole grains and asparagus.

Hydration is fundamental to our health. Remember that more than 60% of our body is made up of water. This is why it is important that, for the general health of the body as well as for the hair, to drink more than one liter of water a day.

If you don’t like water that much, or don’t usually drink enough water, you don’t have to drink it by itself. You can also drink herbal teas, smoothies, soups, etc.  Of course, try to avoid sodas with a lot of sugar, as doing so will do more harm to the body than good.

Physical activity helps oxygenate the blood and improves overall health. Remember, it’s not just about looking after one part of the body, but adopting an integral approach to health care, which will be reflected both internally and externally, from your nails to your hair.

So find a sport that you enjoy: walking, running, dancing, swimming, climbing, etc. By adopting a routine that keeps your body active, you will improve your overall wellbeing and your hair will be stronger and healthier.
